Student Experiences
The Highland Park student experience is truly one full of unique opportunities for each student to find a connection to learning and our school community. In addition to art, library, music, and physical education, students receive instruction in Spanish and have access to an array of special interest student clubs. Exposure to another language and the opportunity to explore special interest topics help prepare our students to develop lifelong curiosity and a wider worldview. We have clubs for robotics, Esports, world languages and culture, Student Council and basketball. In addition to these clubs, we have a variety of rotating themes for during-the-day Friday clubs that are available to 5th and 6th grade students. Demonstrated by the variety of special interest student opportunities and a Student Council that truly acts as the voice of our students when making whole school decisions, Highland Park is always focused on creating a more inclusive and welcoming Panda Family. Community Partnerships
At Highland Park, we understand the value of community partnerships and are fortunate to have many that benefit our students and partners alike. Our Panda Pride Nature Preserve was developed through a variety of community partnerships including IU Health, South Central Indiana REMC, Sycamore Land Trust, Sullivan Lawn and Landscaping, Duke Energy, and J.R. Ellington Tree Service. Through partnering with the Sycamore Land Trust, each classroom added native plants to our garden boxes in the preserve and continues to monitor them as they add beauty to our campus. We have readers visit our classrooms regularly from the Monroe County United Way’s Real Men Read program. In addition, we are very fortunate to have a dynamic and supportive Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that sponsors many of our flagship events, including our Kickoff Cookout, our annual Culture Fest and our year end Family Event!
