Black History Month Essay Contest

The City of Bloomington Black History Month Committee invites students in grades 4 through 12, including homeschooled students, to join the Black History Month essay contest. This year's theme, "Blacks in Cinema," honors the enduring contributions of Black individuals in the film industry, highlighting the resilience, creativity, and transformative influence of Black filmmakers and storytellers. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each category (elementary, middle, and high school). First place winners will receive an iPad, second place winners a $100 cash award, and third place winners a $75 cash award. The submission deadline is February 6, 2024, at 5 PM.
